Ragas Live Festival is an epic 24 Hour, 24 set broadcast and live experience.
United by the themes of “Community, Unity and Harmony,” as many as 80 musicians participate each year and the event reaches an international audience in real-time through a live broadcast on WKCR 89.9 FM-NY.
Now in it’s seventh year, the festival has established itself as the definitive annual event of what the Wall Street Journal, New Yorker and Village Voice have all referred to as the “Raga Renaissance.” Noted for ”Preserving the past while blurring genres in an inventive spirit (New York Times);” the programming reflects both classical and contemporary, cross-cultural music.
The transcendent live experience takes place at Pioneer Works, whose inspiring indoor/outdoor space allows the concertgoers to experience the elements of nature along with the music designed for that time of day.
David Brooks, in the New York Times, describes the Pioneer Works’ audience: “Hundreds of intimidatingly hip young people — part model, part geek — were talking, looking at sculpture or playing with their kids in the lush gardens off to the side.
